HANDMADE HANDBAGS VS. MASS PRODUCED “RUN OF THE MILL” HANDBAGS
As you can tell from the title I am partial to handmade handbags especially hand knitted handbags. When you want something really different and special do you search the stores, do you create something from scratch, or add a personal touch to a something purchased at a store? Searching the stores for something really unique is usually costly in time and money and then it is never truly your own. Handmade items still have a stigma because we think to ourselves “I could make that” or we think it is poorly made not worth the money. Sometimes handmade items are not worth the money but most often they are made with considerable care, with high quality materials, and with extra time to make them special.
Knitting has become increasingly popular in the last few years. I think it is due to the fact that the new yarns are wonderful and they continually produce them with new material such as bamboo, corn, soy, and metallic threads to name a few. The yarns knit up fast with large needles and it is fun to combine two or three yarns to see what color and texture can be produced.
As I make my handbags I continually look for new and exciting ways to make them better. My latest handbag has leather handles and leather flowers. I have also upgraded the lining material to make it as attractive as the outside.
KEEP KNITTING!
